Finding Freedom Release “Genre is a Social Construct” E.P.
Finding Freedom catch up to themselves on new E.P., ‘Genre is a Social Construct’
GREENVILLE, SC —
A clear message and attitude often go hand-in-hand with success in entertainment. In that regard, Greenville S.C. band Finding Freedom, with a mantra that doubles as the title for their new release “Genre is a Social Construct,” must be slated for greatness. It is this universal yearning for growth and exploration that saturates the collection of five songs.
Large fields of guitar, with strong bass foundations, and effectively grown drum arrangements reveal the knowledge and comfort the musicians have in their goal. Without a full-time drummer, the band’s string section spends much of its efforts creating intricate layers of rhythm and lead guitar, fused smoothly enough that the sound does not complicate. This union between the different pieces allows for the drums to act more freely, though their function as a powerful backboard is not ignored.
To be clear, Finding Freedom is a rock band, and a solid one. But it is their Southern-tinged, hard-rock energy and melodic flair that allow band members to slip out from under the pins many attempt to place the group under. Their focus and musical chemistry have allowed them to present a distinct adaptation of many different influences, finding freedom in doing so.
The band will perform in honor of the release on Friday, April 13, at the Spinning Jenny in Greer. Doors open at 7 p.m.; music begins at 7:30 p.m., featuring support from Estuarie, The Apartment Club and the Soulfeathers.
